Graduation speech from the principal
My dear high school graduates, as well as the parents and relatives here today.
As School Principal, I would like to congratulate each and every one of you graduating here today. Today you graduate, and receive your high school diploma. You leave the school system, and step into the greater world, full of possibility. You should all be proud!
Today is the end of your career as a student. We wish you the best of luck with the rest of your lives! Your teachers have taught you well over the past 12 years, arming you with a wide array of knowledge. Some of the content will be surprisingly relevant and useful to you going forwards. Other things might seem irrelevant, but I assure you, every thing you learned, every assignment you worked on, was building your skills and knowledge base to face the wider world on your own, capable, and resourceful. And, you'll likely be amazed how often you use these tools we've helped hone in you in the future!
I would like to thank all of your teachers for all that they did to prepare you for your final exams, teaching you how to excel. Remember to thank them, graduates! They may not be your parents, but I can assure you from my own experience, us teachers are invested in you, we care. We'll miss you, but feel proud knowing you're out in the world, making a difference.
And, dear graduates, don't forget to thank your families too, for all the sleepless nights you've given them, for their support, their humor, and their patience!
Your high school time has ended, and now each of you goes your own way. Perhaps you'll take a year to travel, perhaps you'll dive right into university or college studies. Or perhaps you'll find a rewarding job. Some of you may not have made up your mind yet, and that's fine as well.
Keep in mind, though, your friendships here have been developed over years, and I encourage you to maintain them. Stay in touch, support each other! Take responsibility, be brave in making choices – trust your instincts, and stand by them!
Because there is one thing I can assure each and every one of you as your proud principal: you are ready and able to now live the rest of your life!
